United in Diversity?

About the project

An easy-to-understand take on the bar chart, United in Diversity is an editorial-style piece tracking divisive Canadian political issues over gender and political leaning differences. Shapes representing the views of women and men "pull" the national averages toward, or away from, the 50% rift line—an indication of increased societal division.

The vintage photographs are a departure from the overused modern stock imagery typically featuring clean-cut and suit-wearing women and men. Playfully juxtaposed against "traditionally gendered" yet modern colors, heavily tattooed women and rough-around-the-edges farmers represent liberal and conservative leanings.
